As the Transport Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with both civilian and military personnel to create a cooperative environment essential for delivering outstanding training. Job Description: As the Transport Operations Manager your role is to run the Transport Operations cell, produce the daily detail and all associated admin tasks for the Infantry Battle School to maintain course outputs. You 'll line manage a small team of civilian staff to ensure the MT outputs supporting the Infantry Battle School plans. Main responsibilities will include: Driving Detail - Process all IBS transport requirements to support training delivery. Resource and coordinate a plan to achieve this effectively and efficiently using the transport and workforce available Tasking - Identify the correct drivers to task ensuring they hold the correct license and that available drivers' hours are commensurate with the requirements of the task. Assist the Deputy Transport Manager in the management and coordination of drivers work/life balance and produce the forecast one week in advance during busy periods and 2 weeks in advance during quiet periods Out of hours task - Ensure tasks outside of routine working hours are publicised a minimum of three days prior to the task ensuring volunteer requirements can be met Transport Assurance - Scrutinise Transport Requests against entitlement and policy compliance. Ensure that correct supporting documents are present and offer Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance when required. Reject any requests that do not meet policy requirements Vehicle Booking Management - Ensure all fleet vehicle requests are booked using the correct information management systems, taking note of vehicle Service/Maintenance events. Support the Military Transport Officer (MTO) in planning the transport laydown and delivery for large IBS deployments Liaison with Vehicle Administrators - Be proactive in liaising regularly with the Motor Transport Vehicle Administrators concerning vehicle availability for the purposes of planning and utilising resources effectively Information Management (IM) - Supervise the transport clerk archiving and filing all Military Transport documents that require retention for audit, reference and retention policy purposes in line with Ministry of Defence policy. Ensure that IBS Information Management policy is adhered to, educate and assist new MT staff on IBS MT IM requirements and procedures Compliance - Ensure Motor Transport driving and operating procedures comply with relevant policies. Ensure all vehicles are tasked in with Joint Service Policy 800 policies and guidance. Lead the preparation of MT documentation for the all assurance Inspections and support the MTO in maintaining compliance in this area Brigade liaison - MT Point of Contact for all transports bookings, policy and authority queries Lead and manage a small civilian workforce team, create a supportive and effective working environment for them that promotes and rewards hard work, mutual trust and support, self-pride, and commitment.
