In preparation for the implementation of a new school-wide Management Information System involving key members of the school office and data teams, we have a flexible (part time or full time) fixed-term vacancy to provide some additional administrative support capacity within our dedicated teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced administrator to join a supportive team who work collaboratively to contribute to the continued success of the school. We are seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant to provide support with all aspects of school administration. The role will be fixed-term initially to start as soon as possible (and ideally start 23rd February to the end of the summer term, 22nd July 2026).

Key responsibilities will include providing administrative support for a variety of areas including departments, pastoral leaders and senior management; the administration of school trips and events; as well as support for our front of house areas. The full time role will also encompass support for the Data Manager with some administrative aspects of student attendance and with the maintenance and housekeeping of current school systems (which include SIMS, Class Charts and Edulink).

Liaising with school staff and external parties as appropriate will also be an important part of this busy and varied role.

We are looking for a proactive and flexible individual with a ‘can do’ attitude who can assist in the smooth running of our established processes.

The successful candidate will have:

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Ability to work to deadlines
3. Experience using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
4. Highly organised, accurate and detail conscious work ethic
5. Ability to use discretion and respect confidentiality

Experience of working with SIMS (or other education MIS) would be beneficial but training can be provided. A knowledge and understanding of the education sector and/or experience of working within a school environment would be desirable.

This vacancy is full time, 8:00am-4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am-3:30pm on Friday and will be term time only with flexibility for the right candidate.

We are a welcoming, caring and supportive working environment and high priority is given to the wellbeing of our staff and students. In addition, we offer:

6. A generous pension scheme for support staff
7. Access to a Cycle to Work scheme
8. An active Staff Wellbeing Committee with numerous enrichment activities on offer
9. On-site free parking
10. A wellbeing day per academic year (prorated for part timers)
11. Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

Robert May’s School, which dates from 1694, is a high attaining and oversubscribed 11-16 Academy school with a distinctive ethos based on the charitable principles of our founder. We would welcome the opportunity for an informal discussion or visit. Please contact Lisa Shackleton, HR Manager for further information.

An online search will be conducted for all shortlisted candidates to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Interviews will take place as soon as possible afterwards. Please note that the school reserves the right to interview on receipt of applications, and to appoint prior to the deadline, so early application is recommended.

Robert May’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks.
