We have an immediate contract requirement for a Metering Specialist to work for our market leading renewable energy client. This is expected to last at least 12 months & will be based up to 50% of the working week at our client’s central London head office.
As a Metering Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end metering lifecycle, including installation, maintenance, performance monitoring, and compliance with industry regulations. You will work closely with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure metering systems operate efficiently and provide a seamless experience for customers, acting as the subject matter expert for metering within our clients UK operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as national Metering and communications subject matter expert within our clients UK operation and support regional teams with the construction of their projects.
* Maintain the metering requirements and Standards for our clients construction projects and maintenance operations. Ensure our requirements are compatible with internal processes including commercial, operations, asset management, and legal requirements.
* Provide expert knowledge in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AIM).
* Support project teams at initial design stages to advise on hardware, controls, and metering equipment selection to improve reliability and maintainability, as well as designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment and software as needed.
* Implement and review the metering strategy to meet current and future business needs.
* Manage relationships with metering contracts.
* Contribute to medium-term maintenance strategies and develop maintenance concepts for metering assets.
* Provide leadership in the market, influencing industry policies, technical guidelines, and standards.
* Operations Participate in regional planning for major maintenance operations.
* Establish and manage a reporting system on metering performance.
* Provide metering training for engineering and operational teams.
* Review acceptance tests and commissioning of metering systems and equipment.
* Manage the HPAN register and maintain the central database of metering assets.
* Support the commissioning of AMR equipment and act as escalation point for AMR issues.
* Manage warranty information and lead warranty claims for metering assets.
* Report on operational performance of metering assets nationally.
Compliance
* Ensure compliance with Heat Network Metering and Billing Regulations and the Heat Network technical assurance scheme.
* Maintain health and safety, technical integrity, and quality standards, including authority approvals.
* Keep maintenance and documentation organized and up-to-date across operational regions.
* Compile and report metering data to internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.
Qualifications and Experience
• Engineering degree or formal Electronics/controls qualification such as Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent recognized training.
• Over 5 years of experience working with metering in the utilities sector and operational environments.
• Experience with network infrastructure, architecture, and administration.
Knowledge and Skills
