Job Description
The Locum Construction Solicitor will be:
3. Drafting, negotiating and advising on supply chain and subcontract contracts (especially NEC forms)
4. Advising on risk allocation, change control and compensation events
5. Providing legal support to procurement and commercial teams
6. Ensuring consistency and governance of contractual terms across suppliers
7. Reviewing supplier sub‑contracts, design/works interfaces, and collateral warranties
8. Managing contractual dispute avoidance and escalation as needed
9. Liaising with project leadership, commercial, procurement and technical leads
10. Monitoring contract compliance and advising on mitigation strategies
The Successful Applicant
The Locum Construction Solicitor should be:
11. A solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 2+ PQE in construction / infrastructure
12. Experienced in negotiating NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
13. Comfortable working under pressure and delivering fast turnaround advice
14. Skilled in managing complex supply chain agreements
15. Commercially minded, with excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder skills
16. Able to work collaboratively and adapt within a project environment
