SEND Teacher (MLD & ASD Focus)
Location: Liverpool - L16
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday
Are you a passionate educator who believes that every child, regardless of their starting point, deserves an environment where they can thrive? We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join our vibrant school community on a long-term basis.
The Teaching Role
This is a classroom-based role focusing primarily on children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will be responsible for creating a nurturing, structured environment that allows students to build confidence and independence.
While the school caters to some complex needs and students with epilepsy, you will be supported by a highly skilled team of 1:1 Teaching Assistants who manage specific medical and behavioral requirements, allowing you to focus on high-quality, adaptive teaching.
Key Responsibilities
*
Tailored Curriculum: Plan and deliver creative, sensory-aware lessons adapted to individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
*
Progress Tracking: Use small-step assessment frameworks to celebrate every milestone.
*
Collaboration: Lead a team of TAs effectively to ensure consistent support across the classroom.
*
Environment: Foster a "low-arousal" classroom setting that supports the sensory needs of ASD learners.
What We’re Looking For
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, though highly experienced SEND practitioners are encouraged to apply.
*
Resilience & Empathy: A genuine desire to understand the "why" behind a child’s behavior.
*
Experience: Previous experience with ASD/MLD is essential; knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach is a massive bonus.
*
Commitment: This is a Temp-to-Perm position. We are looking for someone who wants to become a pillar of our school community.
Why Join Us?
*
Better Work-Life Balance: Rare 15:30 finish to help you reclaim your afternoons.
*
Exceptional Support: Robust 1:1 TA support for complex medical needs (including epilepsy).
*
Career Growth: A clear pathway from temporary placement to a permanent contract.
*
Purpose: The chance to make a profound, lasting impact on the lives of neurodivergent young people
