About the Role

At St. James’s Place, our Group Products Division plays a critical role in designing and overseeing the products and services we offer to clients. We ensure they remain competitively priced, support sustainable business growth, and most importantly deliver positive, fair client outcomes.

We’re now looking for a graduate-level Actuarial Analyst to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your actuarial career in a supportive and collaborative environment, gaining exposure to a wide range of products and stakeholders while studying towards your professional qualifications.

At SJP, you’ll be part of a business that values long-term thinking, client focus, and professional development. You’ll receive structured actuarial study support and a clear pathway to qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work closely with colleagues across the division and wider business, contributing to both day-to-day activity and longer-term projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the development, testing, and maintenance of advice tools and product illustrations.
  • Providing actuarial and technical support to stakeholders across the SJP Group, including our Partnership (financial advisers).
  • Supporting calculations such as Capital Gains Tax and Critical Yield analysis, as well as product functionality queries.
  • Working alongside Actuarial Managers, Consultants and Leads on projects and workstreams.
  • Helping to maintain product documentation and tools to robust audit standards.
  • Building effective relationships with teams across the business and third parties.
  • Producing analysis and insights to support informed business decision-making.
  • Essential Criteria:

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical capability, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine interest in building a career in actuarial work.

  • You’ll have a degree in a numerate or analytical subject ( Maths, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science), ideally a 2:1 or above.
  • A clear commitment to studying towards the IFoA actuarial qualification, with the motivation and discipline to succeed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise competing demands.
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from others.
  • Some coding knowledge ( R, VBA) would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Due to the current minimum salary requirements set by the Home Office, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

    What's in it for you?

We reward you for the work you do, whether that’s through our discretionary annual bonus scheme that reflects both personal and company performance, competitive annual leave allowance (28 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days), or online rewards platform with a variety of discounts.
We also have benefits to support whatever stage of life you are in, including:

  • Competitive parental leave (26 weeks full pay)
  • Private medical insurance (optional taxable benefit)
  • 10% non-contributory pension (increasing with length of service)
  • Reasonable Adjustments
We're an equal opportunities employer and want to ensure our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive for all, if you require reasonable adjustment(s) at any stage please let us know by emailing us at
Research tells us that applicants (especially those from underrepresented groups) can be put off from applying for a role if they do not meet all the criteria or have been on an extended career-break. If you think you would be a good match for this role and can demonstrate some transferable experience please apply, regardless of whether you tick every box.
