An experienced Safeguarding Professional needed for the Diocese
We are seeking a committed and experienced safeguarding professional to join the Diocese of Norwich as Deputy Diocesan Safeguarding Officer / Cathedral Safeguarding Officer (ADSO/CSO).
This is a key role supporting both the Diocese of Norwich (60%) and Norwich Cathedral (40%), providing expert safeguarding advice, managing casework, and helping to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice across a wide and diverse community. Note that this is a full time role working both parts flexibly across the week.
You will play a vital part in promoting a culture where the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults is at the heart of everything we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Deputising for the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer
* Supporting and developing safeguarding practice across the Diocese and Cathedral
* Contributing to audits, reviews and safeguarding improvement planning
* Providing expert safeguarding advice to clergy, staff, PCCs and volunteers
* Supporting delivery and coordination of safeguarding training programmes
* Ensuring effective implementation of national safeguarding policies and guidance
* Managing and coordinating safeguarding concerns and allegations, undertaking or commissioning investigations where required
* Developing and advising on risk assessments and safeguarding plans
* Maintaining accurate and secure case records
* Providing advice and support to victims and survivors
* Embedding best practice in responding well to those affected by abuse
What We’re Looking For
* A qualified safeguarding professional (e.g. social care, criminal justice or similar)
* Experienced in safeguarding children and/or vulnerable adults at a senior practitioner level
* Skilled in risk assessment and managing complex safeguarding situations
* Able to work confidently with a wide range of stakeholders
* Highly organised, with strong analytical and communication skills
* Compassionate and able to engage sensitively with victims and survivors
