Specialty Administrator Assistant - Vascular
Be at the heart of delivering exceptional care by providing vital administrative support to our Vascular Team at Musgrove Park Hospital.
In this role, you will deliver efficient, proactive and high quality administrative and typing support to ensure the smooth running of the Vascular service. As the team and its services continue to evolve, you'll bring flexibility, strong organisational skills and a willingness to adapt to new processes and priorities.
You will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including managing correspondence, preparing clinical documents, supporting clinicians with day to day administrative needs, and helping maintain accurate patient information. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced healthcare environment and enjoys being a key part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Deal with day-to-day correspondence, initiating appropriate responses to provide patients, staff and other parties with required information in a friendly and professional manner. Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty team, taking appropriate action where necessary. Liaise with appropriate personnel in the team to gather and co-ordinate patient information so this is accessible in a timely manner. Process urgent referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments. Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.

Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English Language and Maths or functional skills
* In-house training or vocational level 2 or equivalent level of experience
Experience
* RSA/OCR III or equivalent typing/word processing including audio typing
* Experience of dealing with patients/customers
* Evidence of prioritising workloads/good time management
* Proven experience of working well as part of a team
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting / previous experience of NHS administration processes
Additional Criteria
* IT literate; including recent experience of using Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel
* Working knowledge of administrative procedures and systems
* Ability to multitask
* Knowledge of medical terminology
