The Patient Research Ambassador role focuses on ensuring that service users and carers are represented throughout the research cycle, from planning to dissemination.
Key responsibilities
* Act as the main point of contact for service user and carer involvement in adult mental health research.
* Chair and manage the Help from Experts by Experience for Researchers programme.
* Attend internal and external meetings and events such as the Trust’s Service User Network.
* Promote diversity in research by engaging with under‑represented groups in local communities.
* Raise the profile of service user involvement through training, best‑practice sharing and other outreach activities.
* Provide flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
About the role
This position is part of the Research and Development team, working closely with existing service user and carer groups and third‑sector organisations.
Person specification
Experience
* Lived experience of mental health services or research as a service user or carer, or an advocate or representative of service users and carers.
Skills
* Excellent non‑verbal and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload effectively.
Knowledge
* Good understanding of how service user involvement and co‑production works in practice.
