About the role Based in Rolleston and reporting to the Director of Compliance and Health & Safety, the Compliance Manager will be at the forefront of ensuring Coolpak consistently meets and exceeds all regulatory and legislative requirements. This leadership role is responsible for compliance and safety across both Rolleston and Timaru sites, covering Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) obligations, WorkSafe NZ requirements, and broader risk management frameworks.
Leading a high performing team of three, you’ll set direction, provide mentoring, and together you will continue to foster a culture where compliance and health & safety are seen as integral to day-to-day operations.
Beyond the technical, this role is about influence and impact. You’ll partner closely with managers and frontline staff, promoting a safety-first mindset, and championing continual improvement. You’ll also play a key role in helping Coolpak adapt to legislative and industry changes, ensuring the business remains agile, future-focused, and compliant.
About you You’re an experienced compliance/safety professional who understands that success comes from strong systems paired with strong relationships. You’re confident engaging with your team, management, external contacts, and equally comfortable working alongside operations staff to identify issues and implement solutions.
As a leader, you are approachable and supportive and can bring out the best in your team.
Key attributes that will set you up for success include:
1. A comprehensive knowledge of compliance frameworks (MPI and/or WorkSafe NZ)
2. A track record of leading audits, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives
3. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
4. A collaborative, practical and proactive enabling you to influence, educate, and engage people at all levels
5. A genuine passion for creating safe, compliant workplaces and driving positive cultural change in a fast-paced environment.
