Job Title: HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Talent Development


Job Purpose:

To partner with business leaders to design and deliver a strategic learning and development (L&D) agenda that builds organisational capability, supports performance, and drives a high-performing, inclusive culture. The role combines Generalist HR Business Partnering with a strong focus on talent development, leadership capability, and continuous learning.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic HR Business Partnering

* Partner with senior leaders and the HR Team to understand business objectives and workforce needs
* Translate business strategy into people and development plans
* Provide expert HR advice on organisational design, talent, and capability building
* Use data and insights to influence decision-making


2. Learning & Development Strategy

* Design and implement an organisation-wide L&D strategy aligned to business goals
* Identify current and future capability gaps
* Develop learning frameworks, pathways, and competency models
* Embed a culture of continuous learning


3. Leadership & Talent Development

* Design and deliver leadership development programmes
* Support succession planning and talent reviews
* Coach and advise managers on team development and performance
* Drive initiatives to build high-potential talent pipelines


4. Performance & Capability

* Partner with leaders to embed effective performance management practices
* Align development plans with performance outcomes
* Support upskilling and reskilling initiatives
* Monitor effectiveness of learning interventions


5. Learning Delivery & Innovation

* Oversee design and delivery of training programmes (in-person, virtual, digital)
* Leverage modern learning technologies and platforms
* Evaluate learning impact using metrics and feedback
* Manage external training providers where required


6. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I)

* Embed inclusive learning practices and equitable access to development
* Design and support ED&I-focused learning (e.g., inclusive leadership, unconscious bias)
* Monitor development opportunities across diverse groups
* Support initiatives that promote an inclusive culture
* Support employee led ED&I groups


7. Employee Engagement & Culture

* Support initiatives that enhance employee engagement and experience
* Contribute to culture change programmes
* Use engagement data to inform L&D priorities


8. Add Hoc HR work

* Provides flexible support to the team across varying workloads, including assisting with talent acquisition, payroll, and other ad hoc HR activities as required
* Responds proactively to changing demands, taking on additional responsibilities as required
* Adapts quickly to shifting priorities, providing hands-on support across multiple HR functions as needed

* Coaching and facilitation skills

Qualifications & Experience:

* Previous experience working in a law firm, with an understanding of legal sector dynamics and practices
* Degree in HR, Learning & Development, Business, or related field (preferred)
* CIPD Level 5 or 7 (or equivalent) desirable
* Proven experience as an advisor looking for the next step up
* Experience designing and delivering leadership development programmes
* Experience working with senior stakeholders
* Familiarity with learning technologies (LMS, e-learning platforms)
