Production Manager - Precision Engineering
£40,000 - £48,000 base + benefits
Rochford, Fully On-site (4 days in the office)
We are looking for a Production Manager to lead the shop floor and train their shop floor team. You will also be leading and coordinating the manufacturing operations within a precision engineering environment, ensuring all components are produced accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Plan, prioritise, and delegate daily production activities to meet customer and business requirements.
- Lead, manage, and develop the production team, including training, attendance, holidays, and performance management.
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with documented quality procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Set up and safely operate CNC machinery, including sliding and fixed head CNCs with Fanuc controls, lathes, drilling and tapping operations.
- Carry out first-off inspections and oversee in-process and final inspection of machined components.
- Track, analyse, and report monthly production KPIs, including on-time delivery, arrears, and quality performance.
- Take ownership of tooling requirements, liaising with tooling suppliers and ensuring the shop floor is fully equipped.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
About You
- Proven experience in a production management or supervisory role within a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC machining and production processes.
- Confident leader with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams effectively.
- Quality-driven with a solid understanding of manufacturing KPIs and continuous improvement principles.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
