Band 6 Cardiac physiologist - Echocardioprahy

The closing date is 10 August 2025

You will be a qualified Cardiac physiologist. You will be required to Echo independently however there be training towards BSE accreditation if not yet accredited. This will be bespoke training programme in a department with highly skilled echocardiographers. There will some cardiac physiology work in other areas of the cardiology diagnostic service when required you will also be expected to support the department in maintaining its accreditation and the training and development of other colleagues of all levels.


Main duties of the job

A good basic knowledge of Echocardiography and experience and knowledge within a cardiology diagnostics department

Working to ensure the needs of the service are met and to provide a seamless diagnostic service. As the needs of the service change, the ability to work flexibly and as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential to fulfil these requirements

Working towards BSE accreditation with bespoke training programme. This is also essential for professional development. This job description is designed to assist post holders with understanding what is expected of them in their role

We may ask them to undertake other duties, as required, which are not necessarily specified on the job description but is required as part of the role

All post holders must take responsibility to ensure that they are aware of and adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines relating to their employment regardless of their position within the Trust.

Perform and interpret routine cardiac investigations.

Perform specialised diagnostics investigations.

Carry out audit to continuously improve patient care and service needs.

Participate in the training and development of both external university students and junior team members.

Communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive patient experience.

Assist the Principal Cardiac Physiologist and other senior members of the team in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of the cardiothoracic diagnostic service.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* *Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent/OTEC/ONC or equivalent in MPPM
* *Meet requirements of RCCP voluntary register
* *Evidence of CPD and attendance at relevant meetings


Experience

* *Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of the speciality
* *Evidence to demonstrate a structured approach to continuing professional development.
* *Evidence of an understanding of issues affecting the NHS today, including Government strategy
