Position Summary
We are seeking a Credit Controller based in our Norwich Office for a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract.
The successful candidate will join a small team responsible for managing the collection of premium and reinsurance ledgers for our Syndicate and Company Underwriting entities.
Ideal candidates will have detailed knowledge of credit control and collection principles, along with a good understanding of the insurance and reinsurance credit control environment. Strong communication skills, the ability to prioritize, perseverance, and initiative are essential to support challenging cash flow targets and improve the Billing and Collections function.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure Credit Control procedures comply with Head Office requirements.
* Review daily and monthly aged debt, follow up with brokers, and escalate as necessary.
* Communicate with Brokers via email, phone, and face-to-face meetings to resolve queries and reduce aged debt.
* Escalate Broker queries to underwriters for prompt premium corrections.
* Support processing efficiencies and data accuracy improvements.
* Review billing statements and premium audits, determine appropriate billing methods.
* Use Word and Excel to reconcile data and follow up on discrepancies.
* Assist team members to achieve group goals and targets.
* Prepare monthly debtor analysis for review meetings.
* Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Analyse and interpret Run-off accounts, support schemes of arrangement and liquidations.
* Follow up on large late processed items.
* Perform other duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Strong knowledge of billing, collections, and processing interfaces.
* Understanding of accounting principles, cash flow, collateral, and finance agreements.
* Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance industry procedures.
* Excellent communication, planning, and customer service skills; additional languages are a plus.
* Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
* Ability to analyse issues, perform calculations, and document queries.
* Understanding of the credit cycle and cash flow challenges.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
* Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
* Experience in insurance or broker markets preferred; credit control and relationship management experience is key.
* Qualifications in Credit Management, Accounting, or Insurance are advantageous.
* High standard of formal education required.
