Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Pay: £13.75 per hour
A specialist educational institution located on the southern outskirts of Basingstoke is seeking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join its team. The school provides a secure, structured, and supportive learning environment for pupils aged 11 to 16 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and related learning difficulties.
The campus features modern, well-equipped classrooms, therapeutic spaces, and extensive outdoor areas designed to enhance both educational outcomes and pupil wellbeing. Pupils benefit from the expertise of a highly skilled and collaborative staff team focused on promoting academic achievement, personal growth, and emotional resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing support to pupils during lessons, small group activities, or individual sessions
* Assisting teaching staff in planning and delivering tailored learning activities
* Supporting pupils in managing behaviour and emotions through established strategies
* Encouraging pupils’ independence, active engagement, and positive learning attitudes
* Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to address individual needs
Candidate Profile:
* Calm, compassionate, and professional when working under pressure
* Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH or SEND, is desirable
* Confident and consistent in managing challenging behaviour with sensitivity
* Reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting the progress and wellbeing of all pupils
An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS check registered on the Update Service is essential, or candidates must be willing to obtain one at their own expense prior to commencing employment.
