Our EMIS X Analytics team have worked hard to build a data platform to help the NHS manage one of the richest healthcare datasets in the world, which currently houses 1 Petabyte of data and able to query 1.5 billion rows of data every second.

What you’ll do
You will be working with cloud infrastructure/technology to expand and advance our data platform capabilities. We also want you to be an evangelist for engineering culture, promoting best practice across the team and wider business.
Whilst this role will see you do hands on development, we also want you to have a commercial focus and be able to grasp considerations that need to be made in the wider business when it comes to software engineering.
You will support your team through identifying and implementing improvements and efficiencies. A passion for automation is a must.
Your ability to build trusted and credible relationships is imperative and you will be expected to influence others to consider the technical direction needed, as well as evaluate and recommend changes needed to any procedures.
Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;
* Successfully develop, deliver, and maintain high quality software
* Maintain relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable
* Work cross-functionally with other tech teams and business functions to drive forward results
* Really take the time to understand our customer needs and settings and how this applies to building high quality healthcare products
* You’ll help implement fast, secure, and efficient data pipelines and storage
* Ensure long-term scalability and maintainability of the Analytics Platform
Who you’ll be
We need you to demonstrate significant experience within Software Development!
Naturally, we want you to be technically competent (experience in either Python, Java or .Net), together with working in an Agile environment and we need you to have experience of working with Cloud technologies (AWS preferred but not required).
Being passionate about tech and keeping up to date with market and industry trends is key, as we want you to share your knowledge and use that to show us where you have made improvements that have had business benefit.
Other skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include:
* Experience of data storage technologies: Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi
* Sound knowledge and understanding of Apache Spark, Databricks or Hadoop
* Ability to take business requirements and translate these into tech specifications
* Knowledge of Architecture best practices and patterns
* Competence in evaluating and selecting development tools and technologies
