North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust have collaborated to form the University Hospital Tees group. The pathology departments have created the Tees Valley Pathology Service, including a central processing hub on the James Cook site and two Essential Service Labs (ESL) at North Tees and Friarage hospitals, supporting urgent and acute work.
We seek suitable candidates to complement and develop existing services alongside our team of Chemical Pathologists and Consultant Clinical Scientists. The primary base will be at NTH once our accommodation plans are finalized later this year, but support across all sites will be required as needed.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical advice and interpret biochemistry laboratory results, finalizing patient reports for primary and secondary care.
* Assist in developing the biochemistry service, liaising with clinicians to develop policies impacting patient care.
* Guide laboratory personnel in resolving technical and analytical issues.
* Maintain and improve scientific standards within Clinical Chemistry, adhering to UKAS ISO standards.
* Participate in the procurement process for replacing the LIMS, with involvement over the next 12-18 months.
* Participate in the out-of-hours Clinical Chemistry on-call service for Tees Valley.
* Potentially lead Point of Care Testing and support the delivery of the Lipid service, possibly rotating among consultant staff.
