R L Geotechnical Ltd is a specialist monitoring company delivering geotechnical, structural, and environmental monitoring services on major construction and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint a Monitoring Technician to support site delivery across a range of active projects.
The Role
The Monitoring Technician is a hands‑on, site‑focused role, supporting the installation, operation, and maintenance of monitoring systems on live construction and infrastructure sites.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, being part of site teams, and contributing directly to safe and successful project delivery. You will work closely with senior technicians and monitoring engineers and gain experience across a wide range of monitoring disciplines.
The role involves UK‑wide travel and may include night shifts or weekend working, depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of monitoring instrumentation
* Carry out manual monitoring readings and support automated monitoring systems
* Support fault finding and minor repairs to instrumentation and data acquisition equipment
* Ensure monitoring data is collected accurately and in accordance with project requirements
* Support senior technicians and engineers with day‑to‑day site activities
* Liaise with site teams and communicate observations appropriately
* Maintain accurate site records and field notes
* Work in accordance with RAMS and company health & safety procedures
Requirements
Essential:
* Previous experience working on construction, infrastructure, mining, or similar site environments
* Practical, hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience with monitoring instrumentation or automated monitoring systems
* CSCS or other relevant site safety certification
* Background in rail, highways, or major infrastructure projects
* Basic knowledge of surveying or instrumentation‑related electrical systems
Remuneration & Package
* Salary: ÂŁ27,040 to ÂŁ31,200 per annum, dependent on experience
* Additional earning potential: Regular site working provides typical additional earnings of £5,400–£6,200+ per annum, depending on site attendance and shift patterns
* Enhanced rates for night shifts, weekends, and Bank Holidays
