Garrard Building and Construction Ltd is a family run construction company established in 1946. The Company specialises in building repair and renovation to domestic and commercial properties within an approximate 50-mile radius of its offices in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on co-ordination role essential for supporting the general business operations and service delivery of the company. It requires building excellent relations with all internal teams. The core focus involves co-ordinating the office building maintenance, the company van fleet, stock materials, and company-owned equipment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Office Building Maintenance: Co-ordinate and perform maintenance, including monitoring cleanliness, liaising with cleaning operatives, performing scheduled safety checks, and arranging/overseeing repairs to building services (e.g., lighting, alarms, plumbing, heating) by contractors.
IT Co-ordination: Act as the main point of contact for staff IT issues. Liaise with the outsourced IT support provider to resolve issues and oversee basic IT infrastructure functionality.
Vehicle Co-ordination: Manage the vehicle fleet by arranging effective planned maintenance and repairs, ensuring timely communication. Duties include updating vehicles on the insurance online database, co-ordinating insurance claims, and maintaining monthly vehicle inspection records .
Yard and Stores Management: Work with the Storeman to co-ordinate the yard and store rooms, ensuring they are kept clean, tidy, materials are within shelf life, and fire escape routes remain clear. Assist with disposing of excess items.
Waste Management: Oversee yard and office waste by arranging timely and cost-effective skip changes and monitoring the periodic disposal of hazardous waste .
Stock Materials Management: Along with the Storeman, ensure stock levels are maintained and allocated efficiently. Conduct regular review meetings with Contract Teams to align stock, and assist the QHSE Team in maintaining COSHH assessments .
PPE Management: Ensure all PPE meets the correct standard, maintain appropriate stock levels, and complete staff training on use after being trained.
Plant & Equipment Co-ordination: Manage the check-in and check-out process for company-owned plant and equipment. Carry out regular inspections, arrange calibration, and perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) after suitable training.
Site Support: Carry out site deliveries/collections if required, and undertake any necessary training.
