Join us for an interesting, short contract this summer as a Careers in Medicine Tutor. For this contract, it is essential that you have QTS in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
Each summer, Stafford House welcomes large groups of young international students (aged 14-17) on a study holiday, based in Canterbury. Students will possess English Level: Upper-Intermediate to Advanced levels of English, and so you do not need to have a qualification in teaching or EFL, although this is a great opportunity to gain experience in this field.
This course is for students who want to explore the different career options in Medicine.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach well-prepared classes according to our syllabus and guidelines.
2. Prepare students for Careers in Medicine course-related excursions as required.
3. Contact and liaise with external speakers as required.
4. Organise and register students for Crest Award Silver and First Aid Courses if required.

* Hours: Between 15 and 30 contact hours of teaching per week (including preparation and marking)
* Salary: Hourly rate of £46.20 plus holiday entitlement

Your Profile and Responsibilities:
1. Read and understand the staff handbook and be fully conversant with policies for the welfare and protection of children.
2. Teach our Careers in Medicine syllabus to a high standard.
3. Complete all academic paperwork, including registers and weekly plans, as directed.
4. Be observed by the Director of Studies or Senior Teacher and incorporate feedback.
5. Attend meetings and perform admin duties as assigned.
6. Encourage student involvement in activities and events.
7. Wear lanyards and ID badges at all times on duty.
8. Implement and monitor all Stafford House Health & Safety policies.
9. Attend the final certificate ceremony.
About You:
1. Qualified Teacher Status in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (QTS).
2. Degree in a science-related subject.
3. Experience preparing students for UKCAT and BMAT exams.
4. Interest in teaching and student welfare.
5. Experience working in a summer school environment and in an EAP context is desirable.
6. Additional qualifications such as Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL are preferred.
7. Current First Aid certificate.
