Central Recruitment is working with an inclusive London-based organisation that provides homes, community and support for single homeless people.
Our client is currently recruiting for an LGBTQ+ Housing Support Worker, to work in Haringey area at a service providing support to LGBTQ+ young people, to help them achieve tangible progress in areas such as tenancy management and independent living.
* 32 hours per week (4 day working week)
* Monday - Friday
* 09:00 - 17:30
* Temporary: approx. 4 weeks, with the possibility of extension
* £21.16 per hour (£18.06 per hour, with £3.10 holiday pay)
Please note: you will be required to work across the community, support clients in their own homes and work from the Head Office in Haringey. This role involves lone working.
Key responsibilities:
* Hold a caseload of 10-15 key clients, delivering regular key working sessions, support plans and risk assessments
* Lead on client risk management and be aware of safeguarding issues
* Act as a point of contact for external agencies
* Support clients to settle into their accommodation and become familiar with the local area
* Work with the Housing Team to ensure compliance with occupancy agreements
* Connect clients with appropriate services and maintain engagement
* Support clients with budgeting, rent payments and household management skills
* Assist the Housing Team with rent arrears management and communication with clients
* Assess and interview applicants to ensure suitability for shared accommodation
* Carry out regular property, health & safety and service inspections
* Manage maintenance reporting, inspections and procurement of agreed items
* Support clients with benefits and external agencies (e.g. Universal Credit, Housing Benefit)
* Arrange and attend house or neighbourhood meetings where required.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working in support, supported housing or advice services
* Commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and a keen interest in supporting LGBTQ+ clients and knowledge of issues affecting vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness
* Experience supporting people to build aspirations and healthy relationships
* Ability to manage a caseload, prioritise work and meet deadlines
* Understanding of safeguarding and risk assessment
* Ability to work in a client-centred, outcome-focused way
* Strong commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice
* Good written communication and record-keeping skills
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
