Leaving Care Personal Advisor
Location: Tiverton, Devon
Contract: Initially 3 months
Hours: 37 per week
Pay: £17 – £21 per hour (umbrella), depending on experience (£13-£16 PAYE an hour)
Devon County Council is seeking a dedicated Leaving Care Personal Advisor to support young people aged 16–25 as they transition from local authority care into independence.
This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the futures of care-experienced young people—providing guidance, practical support, and a trusted relationship when it matters most.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of approximately 20 young people
Provide tailored support to improve life chances, safety, housing, education, employment, and independence
Build trusting relationships and promote emotional well-being and resilience
Develop and implement pathway plans based on assessed needs
Liaise with multi-agency partners to coordinate support and safeguard young people
Maintain accurate records and ensure statutory duties are met in a timely manner
Travel locally and occasionally out of county to visit young peopleAbout You:
Experience working directly with young people, families, and carers
Strong understanding of legislation including Children Act 1989 and Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000
Knowledge of child development and the challenges facing care leavers
Comfortable managing a varied caseload and working independently
Resilient, compassionate, and committed to making a difference
Willingness to work flexibly and travel as required
