Job Description
Are you a Primary Teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to build experience in supportive schools while maintaining flexibility in your working week?
Protocol Education is currently working with a wide range of primary schools across Gateshead who are looking for passionate teachers to support their classrooms through flexible supply teaching and long-term placements.
Whether you’re an ECT starting your teaching career or an experienced Primary Teacher looking for greater work-life balance, supply teaching offers the opportunity to work in different school environments, develop your skills, and stay in control of your schedule.
Working hours are typically 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only.
Why Many Teachers Start with Supply
Supply teaching has become an increasingly popular choice for both new and experienced teachers.
It allows you to gain valuable classroom experience while avoiding the pressure of committing to a permanent role too quickly.
Working through Protocol Education means you can:

• Gain experience across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2
• Explore different school environments before committing long term
• Focus on teaching without excessive planning and admin
• Maintain flexibility while building your teaching career
Many of our teachers begin with flexible supply before moving into long-term or permanent teaching positions in schools they enjoy working with.
What Your Role Could Involve
Depending on the placement, your responsibilities may include:
• Delivering engaging lessons across the primary curriculum
• Managing the classroom environment and maintaining positive behaviour
• Supporting pupils' academic progress and wellbeing
• Creating an inclusive learning environment for all pupils
