Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
•Primary focus is on the full-cycle development and management of Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) innovation projects; from bid writing and application to delivery, reporting and project closedown.
•Project management and governance; day to day running of projects, managing project deliverables and project finances as per Ofgem guidance.
•Liaising with, and managing project partners and third-party contractors, where applicable, along with associated engagement and travel.
•Engagement with stakeholders, including senior colleagues who are the internal customers for innovation.
•Project reporting and dissemination of project learning and outputs with the wider energy innovation community.
•Ensuring projects align with Ofgem’s guidance and Northern Powergrid’s ED2 Business Plan.
•Strong planning and organising skills including programme and project management.
•Highly effective relationship manager - influential with internal and external stakeholders.
•Strong commercial skills particularly in bid production
•Strong written and spoken communication skills – clear, concise, engaging and persuasive - ability to produce high quality bids and plans.
•Ability to convert strategic priorities into actionable innovation portfolios.
•Strong analytical skills to interpret information and apply judgement to decision making.
Qualifications and Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience
•Level 4 e.g. HNC in Electrical engineering (or suitable STEM subject ).
•Experience managing and delivering projects in an energy/STEM discipline.
•Energy sector experience and knowledge of the decarbonisation energy transition.
•Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
•Relevant third level degree in project management or equivalent third level qualification.
•Have worked or are currently working in a Distribution Network Operator (DNO).
•Previous work within energy industry innovation projects.
