We enable new opportunities for our customers through digitalisation.**Mechanical Fitter – Purfleet**We’re looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Heidelberg Materials UK in Purfleet. You’ll be responsible for inspections, maintenance, and supporting plant operations — helping us stay safe, efficient and reliable.**Key Responsibilities:*** Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in line with schedules and procedures* Conduct daily inspections, identify faults, and take corrective action to reduce breakdowns* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and near hits* Support electrical and production departments when required* Participate in planned shutdowns and provide out-of-hours breakdown cover on a rota basis* Supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices* Maintain workshops, equipment, and facilities to high standards* Ensure proper isolation procedures are followed* Assist with plant improvements and development projects* Provide holiday and sickness cover for plant operators, including sampling, cleaning, and deputising for the Miller* Work at other Heidelberg Materials sites as needed* Ensure correct storage and handling of oils, lubricants, and gases* Identify and respond to spillages and maintain clean, safe work areas**What We’re Looking For:*** Recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or welding/fabrication disciplines* Strong fault-finding and preventative maintenance skills* Certified mobile plant licences (Forklift, Bobcat, Loading Shovel, MEWP)* Solid understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards* Familiarity with electrical isolation and permitting procedures* Systematic approach to problem-solving and planning At Heidelberg Materials, we’re committed to building a sustainable future.
