About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Looked After Children (LAC) Social Worker to join our supportive and forward-thinking Children’s Services team in the West Midlands. You will play a key role in improving outcomes for children and young people in care, ensuring they receive the highest standard of support, stability, and safeguarding.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will build meaningful relationships with children and families, promote their emotional wellbeing, and support permanency planning through fostering, adoption, and long-term care pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of looked-after children in accordance with statutory guidance and local procedures
* Undertake regular visits, assessments, and reviews to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and progress of children in care
* Develop and implement care plans that promote stability, identity, and positive outcomes
* Work closely with foster carers, residential settings, schools, health professionals, and wider support networks
* Prepare high-quality reports and present evidence in court when required
* Advocate for the rights and aspirations of children and young people
* Engage in reflective supervision and contribute to continuous service improvement
About You
You will be a committed social work practitioner with a strong understanding of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice. You should have:
* Qualified and registered Social Worker status (Social Work England)
* Experience working with looked-after children, safeguarding, or statutory social work
* Strong assessment, planning, and case management skills
* Excellent partnership working and communication skills
* Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
* A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
