Re.Group is an Australian-owned company focused on providing solutions for recycling and recovery of resources from waste. Our vision is to create a wasteless society—where all resources that become waste are reused and are not disposed.
At the heart of Re.Group is our focus on positive community impact. We collaborate with charities, private organisations, and the Government to benefit local communities.
About the role
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for establishing and operating Re.Group’s plastics processing capability, starting with the Queensland washing and flaking facility.
We are seeking a General Manager to lead the delivery of a greenfield plant from commissioning through to ramp-up and steady-state operations, ensuring performance across throughput, yield, contamination control and product quality.
You will bring deep, hands-on experience in plastics washing and flaking processes and be confident optimising plant settings, troubleshooting quality issues, and driving consistent output in a variable feedstock environment.
Beyond plant operations, this role will also support the evolution of Re.Group’s plastics capability over time, contributing to the development of higher-value applications and downstream opportunities as the platform scales.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands plastics processing at a technical level and can translate that knowledge into a disciplined, high-performing operation.
About the role
* Lead commissioning, start-up and stabilisation of a plastics washing and flaking facility
* Optimise washing and flaking processes to achieve target throughput, yield and product quality
* Establish best-practice operating parameters across sorting, washing, drying and flake production
* Drive plant performance across safety, uptime, contamination control and cost per tonne
* Troubleshoot processing issues including contamination, moisture, yield loss and product consistency
* Build and lead a site team including supervisors, operators and maintenance capability
* Implement preventative maintenance and reliability frameworks specific to plastics processing equipment
* Ensure product meets required specifications for downstream customers and applications
* Partner with supply and commercial teams to manage feedstock variability and product offtake
* Own site-level P&L, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and margin improvement
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the processing line
* Support future scale-up and replication of plastics processing capability nationally
About you
* Demonstrated, hands-on experience in plastics washing and flaking operations (essential)
* Strong understanding of plastics processing equipment, including washing lines, shredding, separation and drying systems
* Proven ability to optimise throughput, yield, contamination levels and product quality
* Experience commissioning or operating plastics recycling or processing plants
* Senior operations leadership experience within recycling, waste, packaging or manufacturing environments
* Strong safety leadership and experience embedding safety-first cultures
* Hands-on leader who is comfortable being on site and close to operations
* Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
* Commercial awareness with experience managing site costs and performance
* Comfortable operating in environments with variable feedstock and operational complexity
Why us?
* Attractive salary package
* Access to exclusive discounts and benefits at over 500 retailers across Australia
* Novated car leasing
* Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
* Multiple career paths and advancement opportunities
* The opportunity to work towards our vision of creating a wasteless society
