Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and ambitious Head Chef to join us for the beginning of our journey at the newly renovated Black Lion in Skelton-on-Ure as we aim to create a top class gastropub, focusing on ever evolving menus, using locally sourced produce, preservation and nose to tail cooking. You will work closely alongside the owners to help create and maintain high standards of food service and hygiene as we endeavour to put ourselves on the map as a destination for quality and innovation. We have our eyes set on the Good Food and Micheline guides and we are looking for a chef who appreciates the dedication and attention to detail it takes to be noticed in this competitive environment. Our ideal applicant will have proven technical abilities in the kitchen, a full knowledge of HACCP and record keeping and possess a level 3 food safety certificate. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, managing staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
This position would suit a current/previous Head Chef or experienced Sous who has previously worked in a fine dining or high level gastropub environment.

Duties
* Supervise and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment
* Oversee all aspects of food production and preparation, ensuring consistency and quality
* Develop and implement menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
* Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food safety practices, and service excellence
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
* Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to maintain efficient operations
* Create an inspiring culinary environment that encourages creativity and innovation among the team
Experience
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a fine dinign or high level gastropub environment
* Strong supervisory experience with demonstrated team management skills
* Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary arts
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices
* Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment is essential
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
* A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences
