Overview
Our son is 15 years old and has complex special needs and requires a Saturday 2-1 Personal Assistant to work alongside his current carer. Saturday 10:00–21:00 (10.5 hrs) DAY
Job Responsibilities
* Provide supervision, stimulation and meet medical and complex needs.
* Supervise, engage in play and provide a stimulating environment; be his buddy for days out on walks, parks, play gyms, farms, etc.
* Work as a team with the current carer to meet the child’s needs.
* Assistance with feeding at meal times (peg fed) and personal care including nappies, bathing and dressing.
* Monitor medical needs with observation and action as required (full training provided).
* May be asked to accompany the child in his wheelchair-adapted vehicle; confident driving preferred but not essential.
* Full training provided and funded by the employer to meet all needs; hourly rate applies.
Hours and Pay
* Saturdays 10:00–21:00
* Pay: 13.51 per hour
* 5.6 weeks annual leave
* Carer’s insurance paid by employer
* Contract provided
* 4 weekly pay
* Full training provided and paid for
Requirements
* Applicants must be 21+
* Must be able to get to Lincoln LN4 (limited bus service does not serve during work hours)
* Experience in care setting preferred (at least 1 year)
* All training provided and funded by employer
* Advanced DBS check undertaken by the employer prior to commencing work
* Full training on medical care will be provided by nursing team; training paid for at the same hourly rate
* Transport to Lincoln LN4 required
* All carers must be fully vaccinated against Covid due to our son’s vulnerability
Qualifications provided by employer
* Paediatric First Aid training (2-day course)
* Moving & Handling Training
* Medication Administration
* Safeguarding
* Training on our son’s medical needs
* All training must be completed within the first month of employment and funded by the employer; medical training provided by NHS Nurse trainer; all training paid for by employer including hours required to complete training at the hourly rate of 13.51
* Advanced DBS checks undertaken by employer prior to commencing work
Experience and Focus
* Experience with special needs children or adults preferred but not essential; more emphasis on finding the right person who can engage with our son and meet his needs.
Person Specification
You should be very patient, kind, friendly and caring in nature and enjoy working with a child with special needs in the family home and in the community. Be able to work alongside another carer to offer the best environment and standard of care.
Additional Notes
The successful applicant must be reliable and committed to delivering care to a high standard both medically and physically. Full training on medical care will be provided by nursing team. An advanced DBS check will be required and paid for by the employer. Please only apply if you have transport to Lincoln LN4. Limited bus service does not serve working hours. All carers are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid.
