Overview
The University invites applications for a Trainee Solicitor (including Solicitors’ Qualifying Work Experience), or a qualified Junior Solicitor, to join the Governance and Legal Service team at Liverpool Hope University. The role is part of a small, friendly team dealing with a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.
The successful candidate will work on in-house matters across litigation, contract and property, and will support data protection, Equality Act advice, Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests, policy drafting, and attendance at University Committees. The work is varied, interesting and rewarding.
Responsibilities
* Deal with a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, including student complaints, student misconduct, and compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Regulator (Office for Students).
* Assist or lead on litigation, contract and property matters, depending on qualification and experience.
* Support data protection matters, provide advice relating to the Equality Act, and assist with Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests.
* Draft University policies and attend University Committees.
Qualifications and Skills
* Trainee Solicitor/Solicitors Qualifying Work Experience post – Law degree or equivalent; preferably have completed or be studying the LPC or Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination.
* Qualified to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, build internal and external relationships, and maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and meticulous record-keeping.
