As a Lead Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high-value, complex initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results and deliver excellence.
You will manage risks, issues, and budget, and ensure that initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work in a collaborative way with multiple third parties and matrix teams, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
This is part of an annual programme focused on reducing technical debt, strengthening security across the estate, and maintaining stable, resilient corporate and store infrastructure, delivered through a combination of Core Infrastructure Upgrades and Hardware Refresh activity. This fixed‑term contract provides the additional delivery capacity needed to support this defined period of high‑demand work, enabling the organisation to bring in specialist skills for time‑bound upgrades and remediation without creating long‑term cost commitments.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of cyber security, technology resilience, and risk‑reduction initiatives ranging from £3-7m, across different domains and platforms (e.g. large‑scale remediation or control uplift initiatives), working closely with all technology teams including security, architecture, and risk stakeholders to ensure outcomes meet regulatory, policy, and enterprise security requirements.
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with the business stakeholders, understand their requirements, and ensure that the initiatives deliver value and meet their expectations, including expectations relating to security, risk, and compliance.
* Define and implement the delivery strategy, approach, and plan, and ensure that initiatives follow the best practices and standards of project management including with enterprise security and governance requirements embedded throughout delivery.
* Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, communication, and risks, and proactively resolve any issues or conflicts that arise, including delivery risks relating to cyber security, control gaps, and operational resilience.
* Coordinate and collaborate with the delivery teams, third parties, and other delivery managers, including cyber security, infrastructure, and architecture teams and ensure that the dependencies, interdependencies, and integration points are identified and managed.
* Provide regular and transparent reporting and status updates to the senior management and governance boards, and elevate any issues or risks that need their attention or intervention including progress against security, risk‑mitigation, and control‑uplift objectives.
* Drive the adoption of agile and lean methodologies, tools, and techniques, and foster a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement within the delivery teams and the wider technology function, promoting secure‑by‑design delivery practices.
* Coach, mentor, and motivate the delivery teams, and ensure that they have the skills and capabilities and support they need to deliver successfully, including awareness of security, risk, and resilience expectations.
Skills & Experience Required
* 5+ years experience and proven track record of delivering complex and high-value technology initiatives across different domains and common enterprise-scale technology platforms e.g Mulesoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft Azure.
* Experience of delivery in large complex organisations, such as FTSE 250 companies or top tier professional services.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of the technology landscape, trends, and best practices.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
* Knowledge of programme organisation structures and proven ability to build teams who are set up for success.
* Strong leadership and management skills, and ability to inspire and empower the delivery teams.
* Highly organised and detail‑oriented, with strong planning, prioritisation, and problem‑solving skills.
* Resilient and adaptable, and able to cope with ambiguity and change in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
* Experience and ownership of budget and financial benefits tracking for initiatives >£3m.
