Medical Secretary – Community Adult Mental Health

Apply for the Medical Secretary role at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust.

Locations: Yew Tree House, Leamington Spa; Stratford Health Centre, Stratford Upon Avon; and additional posts at Yew Tree House and Stratford Health Centre (1 day per week in Leamington Spa).


Posts available (Band 4)

* 1 full‑time role – 28.30 hrs per week.
* 2 full‑time roles – 30 hrs per week each.


Who we’re Seeking

Applicants with secretarial experience who can provide a comprehensive secretarial service to Consultants/Doctors and their clinical teams. We look for friendly, approachable staff with excellent communication skills, strong teamwork, a flexible approach, and a high standard of customer service and confidentiality.


The Job Role

You’ll act as the first point of contact for consultants and their patients, exercising judgement, resolving problems using initiative, and occasionally managing challenging situations and sensitive conversations.

You will work unsupervised on a day‑to‑day basis to meet deadlines, managing a range of complex duties, including outpatient clinic management, extensive diary management, and responding to internal and external enquiries in a professional manner.

Additional tasks include ad‑hoc requests from consultants and the clinical team, supporting consultants with extra duties (e.g., medical education), delegating and line‑managing other administrative staff, conducting supervisions and appraisals for Band 2 & 3 staff, and cross‑covering workloads with other medical secretaries. You will work closely with the Senior Admin Lead and Admin Team Coordinator to implement positive change and improve efficiencies, delivering a comprehensive admin service within a community adult mental health and older adult & dementia outpatient environment.
