Working Schedule: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.45pm, Friday 8am to 2pm
About Our Client
Our client is a well established electroplating and surface finishing business supplying high-quality coating solutions to a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, defence, engineering, and manufacturing.
We are now seeking a highly organised and proactive Facilities Manager on behalf of our client to take ownership of their site infrastructure, maintenance systems, and contractor management.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the facility, plant, and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards.
You will manage a small maintenance team while coordinating external contractors and ensuring all preventative maintenance systems are structured, documented, and audit ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities
🔧 Maintenance & Facilities Management
* Lead and manage the site maintenance team
* Develop and maintain structured preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
* Ensure all plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained to operational and safety standards
* Maintain documentation to an audit-ready status at all times
* Oversee statutory inspections and compliance requirements
* Nadcap & AS9100 Compliance, maintaining facility documentation, calibration records and maintenance logs.
🤝 Contractor & Supplier Management
* Coordinate and supervise on-site contractors
* Manage service agreements and performance standards
* Ensure contractors adhere to site safety and environmental policies
⚗️ Environmental & Chemical Awareness
* Manage HVAC systems, factory heating and office heating systems
* Work with the HSE Manager and the Chief Chemist to maintain a register of tank inspections checking for leaks or structural failure
* Advanced Waste Management overseeing systems controlling the treatment of hazardous effluents eg Chromium VI and Cyandies)
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Previous experience in a Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager, or similar role
* Experience managing a maintenance team
* Strong organisational and process-driven approach
* Experience coordinating contractors
* Ability to manage preventative maintenance systems
* Comfortable working in a regulated or manufacturing environment
Desirable:
* Experience in electroplating, surface finishing, or chemical processing environments
* Knowledge of chemical handling and COSHH requirements
* Experience preparing for audits (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100 etc.)
* Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
