Job Description Vehicle & Plant Technician / Mechanic (19/690T) (Fixed Term) Dumfries £32,475 - £34,632 Vehicle & Plant Mechanic Location: Garroch Workshop, Cargen Towers, Garroch Business Park, Dumfries, DG2 8PN Hours: 36 hours per week, with optional overtime Pay: Time and a half for regular overtime, double time for unsociable hours Join Our Team Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle & Plant Mechanic to support its vehicle maintenance operations at our flagship workshop in Dumfries. You'll be part of a professional, well-organised team working in a modern, fully equipped facility. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post. Your Role You’ll be responsible for maintaining the Council’s wide-ranging fleet, which includes: Small plant equipment Trailers HGVs and buses Minibuses, vans, and cars Specialist vehicles used in front-line operations Tasks will include scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, test preparation, and repairs in line with Transport and Health & Safety legislation. There is also potential to train as a Class IV, V, and VII MOT tester.
