Make a Real Difference Every Day – 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Location: Poole, Dorset
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only

Do you want a role where every day truly matters?
We are looking for a committed, nurturing, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a wonderful Year 3 pupil in a warm and inclusive primary school in Poole. This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship, provide consistent support, and have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence, progress, and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a Y3 boy who requires additional support to access learning and navigate the school day. He is a valued member of the class who benefits from structure, encouragement, and a patient, understanding approach.

This role goes beyond academic support — you will play a key part in helping him develop independence, emotional regulation, and positive relationships with peers.

Your Key Responsibilities

* Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
* Adapt classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
* Support the pupil in developing focus, confidence, and resilience
* Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and self-regulation
* Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
* Liaise closely with the Class Teacher, SENCo, and external professionals
* Support during unstructured times (e.g., break/lunch) to promote social interaction
* Track and report on progress, contributing to review meetings and planning

What We’re Looking For

We are searching for someone who is not just experienced, but genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

Essential qualities:

* A calm, patient, and empathetic nature
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to stay positive, flexible, and solution-focused
* A genuine passion for inclusive education and child development

Experience:

* Experience supporting children with SEN (in school or similar settings)
* Understanding of strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional needs

⭐ Highly Desirable

* Experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or SEMH needs
* Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)

What You’ll Gain

* The chance to change a child’s school experience for the better
* A supportive, welcoming, and collaborative school environment
* Opportunities for training and professional development
* Valuable experience for careers in teaching, psychology, or education support
* A deeply rewarding role where no two days are the same

❤️ Why This Role Matters

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a consistent, positive presence in a child’s life. Your support will help unlock potential, build confidence, and create meaningful progress both academically and personally.
