About the Role:
* We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Quantity Surveyor with extensive NEC4 experience to support major nuclear defence infrastructure programmes in the Glasgow area.
* This senior role will see you providing strategic commercial leadership, administering high-value NEC contracts, and driving strong commercial governance across multiple infrastructure packages. You will work collaboratively with programme, commercial, and technical teams to ensure cost certainty, value for money, and robust compliance within a regulated defence environment.
* Client-side experience is highly desirable (but not essential), and experience within defence or other highly regulated industries will be viewed favourably.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide senior-level commercial leadership and strategic advice across the full project lifecycle.
* Lead the administration of NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, quotations, risk management, and contractor communication.
* Oversee and assure high-value cost plans, estimates, tender submissions, commercial strategies, and contract reports.
* Direct assessments of applications for payment, monthly forecasts, change control, and budget management.
* Support and advise on tender activities, contract strategy, contract award recommendations, and consultant/contractor cost reviews.
* Contribute to, review, and validate monthly reporting, cost forecasting, benchmarking, audits, and commercial governance processes.
* Ensure quality, completeness, and compliance of CEMAR actions, documentation, and meeting outputs.
* Build strong working relationships with client representatives, project teams, and key stakeholders to ensure effective delivery in a nuclear defence environment.
* Manage multiple concurrent NEC contracts (typically 5–6 packages) across diverse infrastructure disciplines.
Key Requirements:
* Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor—ideally at senior level—within major infrastructure, nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated sectors.
* Extensive NEC and NEC4 contract experience is essential, with strong understanding of change management and compensation event processes.
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, with MRICS (or working towards/equivalent).
* Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills with the ability to challenge, influence, and guide project teams.
* Eligibility for and ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
* British National status (essential for defence projects).
* Experience with CEMAR and defence/nuclear project controls environments (desirable).
* Client-side experience beneficial but not essential.
