Payroll Clerk
Location: Northwich
Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum
Working arrangement: Hybrid after probation (3 days office / 2 days home)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday - Friday
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Clerk to join a growing and supportive payroll team in Northwich. Working closely with the Senior Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of client payrolls, delivering an accurate and professional service to businesses across a variety of sectors. This role is ideal for someone with strong payroll bureau experience who enjoys managing client relationships and working in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Process end‑to‑end weekly, monthly and quarterly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.
* Administer Auto Enrolment and BACS payments.
* Manage payroll queries and provide exceptional client service.
* Build strong relationships with clients, HMRC and third‑party providers.
* Ensure payrolls are processed accurately and within deadlines.
* Keep up to date with payroll legislation and industry changes.
* Support the wider payroll team and contribute to best practice initiatives.
About You
* Extensive payroll experience within a bureau environment.
* Accountancy practice experience would be highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory payments and Auto Enrolment.
* Confident processing payrolls from start to finish and resolving complex queries.
* Experience with payroll software; BrightPay experience would be advantageous.
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
* Strong organisational skills with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
* Must be able to commute to the Northwich office.
