Specialist Pharmacist (Surgery & Critical Care) - Pharmacy Services

Join to apply for the Specialist Pharmacist (Surgery & Critical Care) - Pharmacy Services role at NHS Scotland

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The working pattern will be Monday to Friday with participation in weekend, public holiday and on‑call shifts.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join the surgical and critical care team at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will be part of our team helping to lead and develop patient‑focused clinical services to a variety of surgical specialties. You will work in our surgical and major trauma wards and will have regular rotations within our critical care unit, attending daily ward rounds and working closely with the MDT as well as participating in GGC‑wide peri‑operative clinics. You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team participating in team meetings, research and quality improvement.

You will support the development of our technical staff and foundation pharmacists and trainees. You will act as a source of information and prescribing support, providing information on all aspects of drug use including patient safety and contributing to strategic plans for modern pharmacy services. Opportunities to advance your clinical practice in line with the Advanced Practice Curriculum are encouraged. Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is a busy teaching hospital situated in the South of Glasgow and has an excellent team of friendly pharmacy staff committed to modernisation of services and in particular ward‑based medicines management, pharmacist prescribing, sustainability and e‑health initiatives.

You should have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

You should have completed or be currently undertaking the NES Foundation Level Training or equivalent. You should have or be working towards a prescribing qualification. Experience in a critical care environment would be advantageous but not essential.
