Weare a GMS practice based in the City of Worcester which is vibrant and historicwith great motorway access and excellent housing.

Wepride ourselves in modern high quality care with great patient continuitywhilst maintaining traditional values.

We are looking between 6 to 8 sessions per week. Days to be confirmed


Main duties of the job

The successfulcandidate will provide general medical services focussing on a wide range ofhealth needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of carefor all registered and temporary patients.


About us

We are a thrivingand friendly General Medical Practice, well established within the communitywith a growing Registered Patient List size of over 11,700. We have a supportiveclinical team consisting of three Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, a locum ANP,Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and a Physician Associate. In addition we have three Practice Nurses and a HCA. We also have supportivemanagement, administrative and reception teams.

Thepractice is an active member of Worcester City Primary Care Network, proudlyserving over 126,000 patients across the City.


Job responsibilities

The post-holder will manage a caseloadand deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuringthe highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Thepractice offer face to face, telephone and home visit appointments. We have pre-bookable appointments and on theday. There will be a requirement tocontribute to extended opening appointments.

In accordance with the practicetimetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available toundertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephoneconsultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing offrepeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence inan appropriate timescale. There will also be a share of On Call andExtended Hours duties.

Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation.

Assessing thehealth care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patientsfor disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultationwith patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols,developing care plans for health.

Providingcounselling and health education.

Admitting ordischarging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate.

Recording clearand contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling andissuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribing inaccordance with the practice based system, SwitchScript (or generically)whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Contribute tosuccessful achievement of the Quality Outcomes Framework and to additionalservice obligations such as IQSP and Promoting Clinical Excellence.

In general thepost-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other responsibilities within theorganisation:

Awareness of andcompliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing,confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.

A commitment tolife-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.

Contributing toevaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.

Contributing tothe summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.

Attending trainingand events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Other duties

The post-holder may, from time-to-time, be asked to undertake otherreasonable duties, with appropriate training. It is important that all membersof staff are flexible and prepared to undertake additional or relinquishcurrent duties to maintain service delivery to patients. It is expected thatrequests from the Partners will not be unreasonably refused.

COVID19

Employment is undertaken at a time when weare in a national pandemic presenting uncharted territory with regard toemployment. There may be times when changes will be made at short notice oremployees may be asked to work at other sites or outside of their normalworking hours.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
* Evidence of revalidation
* On National Medical Performers list
* UK driving licence and Car
* Appropriate safeguarding training
* MRCGP
* DRCOG
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Minor surgery skills
* Family Planning


Experience

* Completed GP Vocational Training Scheme
* Experience of working as a GP in the UK
* Clinical & Information Governance
* Time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure
* Evidence of participation in audit and self-reflection
* Chronic disease management
* Experience of working to achieve standards within QOF
* Evidence of participation in Audit
* Responsibility for chronic disease QOF indicators
* Interpreting and implementing local and National policy agendas for health
* Experience of using EMIS WEB, DOCMAN software

* Full current driving licence and car owner
* Positive attitude; self-motivated and able to motivate others
* Commitment to primary prevention and health improvement
