Hays are currently working with a Primary PRU in Longsight who are seeking an organised, calm, and professional Receptionist/Administrator to provide high‑quality front‑of‑house and administrative support within a specialist alternative provision setting. This is a key role at the heart of the school, requiring excellentmunication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced and sensitive environment.As Receptionist/Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for pupils, staff, families, and external professionals, supporting the smooth daily operation of the PRU and contributing to a safe, weing, and well‑organised environment.Location: Longsight
Contract: Temporary until end of Academic Year
Hours: Full‑time, 8:30am – 4pm
Rate: ££16/hour DOE
Start Date: 20th April or ASAP thereafterWhat You’ll Be Doing
1. Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents/carers, and external agencies, managing enquiries professionally and sensitively
2. Operate the school reception, including handling telephone calls, emails, and face‑to‑face enquiries
3. Maintain accurate pupil, attendance, and safeguarding records in line with school procedures
4. Support attendance monitoring processes, including first‑day calling and follow‑up
5. Provide administrative support to senior leaders, pastoral teams, and teaching staff
6. Maintain pupil files and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and GDPRpliance
7. Support safeguarding processes by following agreed recording and reporting procedures
8. Assist with correspondence, filing, data entry, and general office organisation
9. Liaise effectively with local authority services and partner agencies
10. Support the day‑to‑day operational running of the PRU, adapting to changing priorities

11. Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role (school‑based experience desirable but not essential)
12. Strong organisational skills and the ability to managepeting priorities
13. Excellentmunication skills, both written and verbal
14. A calm, professional, and approachable manner
15. Confidence in handling sensitive information with discretion and integrity
16. Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and school data systems ( SIMS/Arbor – training can be provided)
17. An understanding of, or interest in, working within a PRU or SEMH setting
18. A flexible, resilient, and team‑focused approach
