This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are ready to advance their career within the automotive industry.\n\nThe Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time and\u00A0earn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment. As well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.\n\nWhat Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?\n\nYou will be based within the garage workshop in Larbert and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance.\n\nApprentice Bus and Coach Technician - Examples of units covered:\n\n· Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment\n\n· Inspection of heavy vehicles\n\n· Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units including pneumatic braking systems and components\n\n· Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engine and component faults, vehicle transmission and component faults and vehicle electrical system faults\n\n· Isolating and re-energising high voltage systems on an electric vehicle\n\n· Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety\n\n· Contributing to workplace good housekeeping\n\nApprentice Bus and Coach Body Repair Technician - Examples of units covered:\n\n· Use of hand tools and equipment in motor vehicle engineering\u00A0\n\n· Removing and replacing motor vehicle body panels\u00A0\n\n· Repairing major motor vehicle exterior body panels\u00A0\n\n· Identifying and rectifying motor vehicle body misalignment\u00A0\n\n· Motor vehicle body MIG/MAG welding operations\u00A0\n\n· Motor vehicle body resistance spot welding operations\u00A0\n\n· Motor vehicle body MIG brazing operations\u00A0\n What will I learn?\n\nRegular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprenticeâs workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.\n\nYou will train through GTG to SCQF Level 7 in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance in Vehicle Body Repair and Maintenance.\u00A0 What qualifications or qualities are required?\n\nYou must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject.\u00A0\n\nWhat personal qualities are required?\n\n·\u00A0We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn.\n\n·\u00A0You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning.\n\n·\u00A0You are able to prioritise and work to timelines.\n\n·\u00A0A willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative.\n\n·\u00A0A full UK Driving licence preferred but not essential.\n\n·\u00A0If youâve got the right skills for the job, we want to hear from you.
