Are you a Compliance leader ready to shape and drive a robust compliance culture within a growing legal services group? Fletchers Solicitors are seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to play a pivotal role in safeguarding our regulatory standards and supporting our ambitious strategic plans.
Reporting directly to the Director of Compliance and working closely with our Chief Legal Officer, this is a high-impact leadership position where you will influence business-wide compliance strategy, lead and develop a talented team, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organisation. Main Responsibilities:
1. Strategy & Leadership
 14. Supporting Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on all legal and compliance matters to ensure delivery of Fletchers’ strategy
 15. Close collaboration with ELT, Chief Legal Officer (CLO), Director of Compliance, Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and other members of ELT and SLT on all legal and compliance aspects of M&A transactions
 16. Cross-functional support on key projects, especially for the Legal Transformation, Legal Strategy and Legal Operations Teams.
 17. Supporting the CLO/COLP and Director of Compliance with all compliance and regulatory aspects of Fletchers’ strategy to ensure business facilitation is achieved in a safe, compliant way
 18. Working with Learning & Development Team to provide training on various matters relevant to role
 19. Working with two other Heads of
 20. Working at the start of the firm’s processes when dealing with cases, looking at systems and procedures to ensure compliance
2. People Management
 21. Lead the team, managing the team members
 22. Develop junior support as required
 23. Coach, develop and support team members
3. Technical
 24. Required level of knowledge and expertise in relevant aspects of compliance and regulation, including SRA and FCA together with ICO matters and relevant legislation including LASPO, etc.
 25. Review and advise upon all aspects of business compliance with GDPR and data privacy law
 26. Assist in drafting policies, procedure and documents in support of the business compliance with any statutory or regulatory obligations
 27. Liaise with other business stakeholders in respect of any effects of statutory or regulatory changes to their business areas and, where necessary, assist in change implementation.
 28. Review and report on any statutory or regulatory considerations in planned business changes
 29. Assist with the implementation of any matters raised by the Risk Team or the ELT Board
 30. Assist in reporting to the CLO and Risk Team (monthly) in respect of business risks and compliance-based issues
 31. Assist the legal teams and wider business in managing proactively the wider business risks
 32. Manage risk relationship with our professional indemnity insurers, and deal with any formal negligence claims
 33. Assist in dealing with day to day risk matters raised across the business with a view to reducing risk level
 34. Reporting to the Senior leadership team monthly in respect of day to day risk matters raised in their business area
 35. Build positive working relationships with all key stakeholders across the business
 36. To act as a champion for good legal practice
 37. To deliver key compliance KPIs alongside project specific KPIs
Essential Skills and Experience: 
 38. Comprehensive knowledge & understanding of Compliance Law
 39. Experience of successfully working and leading in a legal Compliance team
 40. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members and to manage the sensitivities of challenging legal practice appropriately where necessary
 41. Excellent understanding of and the ability to deliver excellent customer service
 42. Excellent understanding of how to balance compliance with business drivers
 43. Experience of coaching and supporting team members
 44. Ability to role model good practice leadership
 45. Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
 46. Strong analytical skills
Desirable Skills and Experience:
 47. Ideally qualified as a Solicitor or a CILEX Lawyer
