We are looking to recruit a cleaner, 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, to work within our friendly domestic team at our Practice in Churchdown.
To deliver a full cleaning service within the Practice, in line with extant policies and procedures, ensuring a clean environment for patient care, in accordance with the NHS National Specification of Cleaning Standards.
Main duties of the job
DAILY JOBS
* Vacuum all areas of the Surgery that have been in use.
* Wash floors in treatment/consulting rooms
* Wipe or wash the stairs.
* Empty bins into the correctly coloured bags and wipe all clinical and non-clinic bins
* Clean all sinks, taps and working surfaces that have been in use.
* Wipe all door handles and stair rails.
* Clean and disinfect all toilets.
* Clean mirrors and pictures.
* Damp dust all surfaces that have been in use.
* Dust/polish as necessary.
* Notify Line Manager of any breakages or hazards.
* Clean telephones and keyboards.
* Check and replace toilet rolls as necessary.
* Check and replace hand wash as necessary.
* Check hand towels and replace as necessary.
* Check and replace hand gels as necessary.
* Turn off lights, set alarm and lock Surgery when leaving.
WEEKLY JOBS
* Wipe cupboard doors as necessary.
* Dust all window ledges, shelves and bookcases.
* Dust clean wall fittings and pipes.
* Disinfect all Patient couches.
* Wipe the exterior of the fridges and microwave.
* Dust plug sockets.
* Check stock of cleaning materials and inform the Domestic Team Leader
* Wipe over PVC seats in the waiting rooms, corridors and consulting rooms, polishing when dry.
* Dust all chair, table and bed legs, with the exception of the examination and Practice Nurse consulting rooms, which must be cleaned.

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the cleaner. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:
a.Ensure where applicable areas are:
Damp mopped
Glass and mirrors cleaned
Tiled areas washed
Painted surfaces cleaned
b.Safely empty and subsequently clean clinical and generalwaste bins, ensuring waste is placed in the appropriate receptacle
c.Adhere to the periodic cleaning schedule, ensuring allactivities are completed
d.Use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner,adhering to manufacturers instructions
e.Replenish all consumable items (hand towels, toilet rolletc.) as required
f.Adhere to the current systems within practice for cleaningequipment at all times, seeking appropriate guidance if required
g.Ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe andsecure manner, adhering to COSHH, H&S and other legislative acts andguidance
h.As required, undertake legionella flushing of systemswithin the practice
i.Report any faulty equipment to line management in atimely manner
j.Report any defects found during the cleaning process toline management in a timely manner
SecondaryResponsibilities
Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the cleaner may be requested to:
a.Support new members of staff on an as required basis
b.Support the practiceteam as requested with general tasks
c.With notice; be flexible to slightly amend working pattern for adhocweekend working e.g. flu clinics.
