Role This role sits within Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM), a global investment manager overseeing over $1.4 trillion in AUM. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Liquidity Portfolio Manager to join our expanding Fixed Income Investment team. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing a range of liquidity and cash management strategies, including money market funds, ultra-short bond funds, and bespoke client mandates. As a senior member of the team, you will play a critical role in delivering strong and consistent investment outcomes, deepening client relationships, and contributing to the continued innovation and growth of our liquidity solutions business. Key Responsibilities: Assists in the development of portfolio strategies through evaluation of the fixed income market, shape of the yield curve, yield spreads, rating changes, and supply/demand factors. Monitor and interpret macroeconomic, monetary policy, and credit market developments to inform investment decisions. Plans overall portfolio structure utilizing security analytical information, economic factors, and fixed income market conditions in conjunction with the fund’s investment objectives. Implements portfolio strategy through security selection, sector allocation and duration decisions. Executes portfolio strategy through efficient and effective direct trading Daily monitoring of portfolio risk with respect to alignment with active investment views and consistency with fund objectives. Collaborate with distribution, product, and risk teams to support new business opportunities and client retention. Actively participate in EMEA and global strategy meetings providing insightful market knowledge and ideas. Mentor and guide junior team members as needed. Key Requirements: Minimum 7–10 years of experience in fixed income or liquidity portfolio management. Deep knowledge of money markets, short-duration fixed income instruments, and liquidity risk management. Strong understanding of economic drivers, monetary policy, and credit risk analysis. Proven track record of managing institutional assets with consistent performance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate investment views to clients and internal stakeholders. Operate in a fast paced and demanding environment Extensive experience in Excel. Macro and VBA skills a plus. Working knowledge of MarketAxess, Tradeweb, Bloomberg preferred.
