Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HGV & PSV Mechanic / Technician to join our workshop team, responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles (buses/coaches). You will ensure all vehicles are maintained to a high safety and compliance standard, supporting fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, inspections & maintenance on HGVs & PSVs
Diagnose & repair mechanical, electrical & hydraulic faults
Perform engine, gearbox, braking, suspension & steering repairs
Complete MOT prep & safety inspections to DVSA standards
Conduct defect diagnosis, rectification, and road testing
Maintain workshop documentation & job cards accurately
Ensure compliance with health & safety and vehicle regulations
Use diagnostic equipment & keep up to date with technical developments
Assist roadside breakdowns as required (if applicable)Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Proven experience as HGV / PSV Technician / Mechanic
NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
Strong mechanical, electrical & diagnostic skills
Full UK Driving LicenceDesirable:
HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
PSV licence (D / D1)
IRTEC Accreditation / DVSA Inspection Licence
Air brake, hybrid/electric vehicle & CANbus knowledgeSkills & Competencies
