About the role

An exciting opportunity awaits to join our team as one of five HR Business Partners, reporting to an Assistant Director of Workforce and Organisational Development.

As a HR Business Partner you will provide leadership to one of our Divisional HR Teams. Your main role will be as an intrinsic and proactive member of one of the Senior Divisional Teams, giving professional and best practice advice.

You will also contribute to interesting and innovative strategic HR projects where you will have the opportunity to think outside of the box.

This is no doubt a challenging time for the NHS but as a team we are growing our capacity and shaping ourselves to meet this challenge and to ensure that we can support our workforce to continue to deliver excellent patient care, each and every time.

The assessment process will test candidates technical skills, ability to present self with the business and key skills associated with the role of HRBP. Specific details of the assessment will be given prior to interview if you are successfully shortlisted.

The role is a fixed term contract for nine months.

Main duties

* To act as an advocate of change and modernisation in support of clinical, business and HR strategies, championing best practice HR management, influencing key clinical and business decisions to ensure the most effective management of staff
* To head a team of HR professionals to work alongside the divisional management team and provide professional customer focused HR advice, coaching interventions and solutions that support the division in the identification and management of HR issues and major change programmes
* To provide advice and guidance to the division on complex workforce issues in order to minimise risk and financial exposure
* To develop divisional workforce plans that support local, organisational and national strategy and agenda
* To work with senior specialist HR colleagues and the wider HR teams to ensure the Corporate HR services meet the needs of the division and that workforce issues are addressed efficiently and effectively
* To undertake specific projects/responsibilities to support delivery of the workforce and organisational development strategy, both within the division and across the Trust as appropriate
* To contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust’s strategic aims, Workforce strategy and HR policy as a proactive member of the senior HR management team
* To work closely with the Organisational Development team and the Equality & Diversity team to operationalise key priorities within divisions i.e. staff survey and Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) action plans

Essential person specification requirements

Qualifications

* Degree level education or equivalent experience
* Masters level qualification in HR-related specialism or equivalent experience
* Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development
* Evidence of continued learning & development

Experience

* Generalist HR experience demonstrating competence across the range of HR functions
* Involvement in setting of workforce strategy
* Experience in the public sector in a large complex organisation with union recognition
* Experience of managing a team

Skills and Abilities

* Leadership fostering powerful and productive working relationships internally and externally
* Championing improvements
* Effective written and oral communication skills for a variety of formal and informal purposes
* Able to influence, negotiate and persuade regarding complex or sensitive issues
* Ability to demonstrate resilience
* To be confident in making difficult strategic decisions and influencing others as appropriate
