Are you an effective communicator with excellent relationship management skills? We are looking for a Service Manager to lead lifelong and mental health commissioning activity for adult social care. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a system change and help shape the future.
As a Service Manager you will lead a team focusing on ensuring social care solutions are available across the county for residents of West Sussex, with emphasis on lifelong and working-age mental health. You will set the direction on commissioning work streams and manage complex programmes and projects, aligning with the council’s strategic intentions and future demand. You will help ensure a market of high-quality services and solutions and co-produce future care options with those with lived experience and their families or carers.
You will build positive relationships with senior stakeholders and partners, report to governance boards and committees, and provide information to Cabinet Members as required. You will drive strategic commissioning for people with working-age mental health needs and lifelong conditions, identify needs and gaps, explore options, support implementation, and review outcomes and performance. You will work in partnership, co-producing plans and projects, engaging with organisations across health and social care, and providing expert advice internally and externally.
The role may require travel across the county to meet with providers and partners. The role involves managing long-term, high-demand projects and delivering to timescales and budget.

Qualifications and/or Experience
* Post-graduate professional qualification relevant to management or to the specialist area of Commissioning in Adults Social Care; or equivalent level of significant experience
* Broad theoretical knowledge across social care, including older people, enablement and independence and all-age services
* Knowledge and practical interpretation of complex theories, with ability to manage policies, processes, projects and strategies across the full commissioning cycle
* Knowledge of the local government's political environment and partner organisations
