We are seeking a dynamic and committed Consultant Breast Radiologist to join our well-established Breast Imaging Service, supporting both symptomatic and NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) activity across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team and help shape the future of breast imaging services while enjoying an outstanding quality of life in one of the UK's most beautiful and affordable regions.
Applications from candidates seeking full-time, part-time or flexible working arrangements are welcomed.
The successful candidate will contribute to both symptomatic and screening breast imaging services, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI and image-guided procedures. The post offers the opportunity to work within an experienced multidisciplinary team of breast clinicians, radiographers, advanced practitioners, nursing staff and administrative colleagues.
We welcome candidates with a range of interests and can offer flexible job planning. The post may be configured as a dedicated Breast Radiology role with no requirement to participate in the general Radiology on‑call rota. Alternatively, candidates wishing to maintain a broader practice may include general radiology sessions and on‑call participation within their job plan.
The Breast Imaging Service operates across Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital and mobile screening units. Recent investment has enhanced our digital mammography, ultrasound and SECTRA PACS infrastructure.
If you are a dedicated Breast Radiologist looking to join a friendly and ambitious service, we would love to hear from you.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant‑led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
