About the Energy Unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle.
Overview of the Role
We're looking for an environmental consultant to join our team. The focus of the role is the environmental assessment of UK energy projects, primarily in nuclear, networks, and energy transition sectors, with opportunities in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Key Responsibilities
* Support UK EIAs for energy projects, including DCO applications
* Conduct due diligence for a variety of energy projects
* Support delivery of environmental management plans
* Coordinate specialists' inputs
* Work closely with engineering colleagues to ensure environmental considerations are integrated during project development
* Prepare proposals
Essential Qualifications
* Fluent in English
* Degree and Masters qualified in an environmental subject
* Experience of EIAs for UK energy projects such as transmission and distribution, solar, hydro, wind, and thermal generation technologies
* Ability to review complex documents, summaries and present key issues clearly
* Understanding of technical aspects of energy projects
* Ability to travel
* Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
* Ability to work within a team and deliver to high standards
* Ability to meet challenging budgets and timescales
* Membership of a relevant professional institute
Desirable Qualifications
* High standard in an environmental specialism and broader awareness of other environmental or social disciplines
* Experience of options appraisals and iterative design processes
* Involvement in previous DCO applications
* Experience of undertaking a range of due diligence activities
* Experience of environmental permitting
* Understanding of technical aspects of other major infrastructure projects
* Experience preparing proposals for new project opportunities
