This newly created role is integral to strengthening production leadership capability and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality joinery products, on time and in the most efficient way possible.

Working closely with the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will provide day-to-day oversight across multiple production lines, leading Team Leaders and their teams to achieve output, quality, and cost targets. The role will champion operational excellence, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement. It is designed to evolve into a broader Production Management position as the organisation continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & People Management

• Lead, coach, and support Production Team Leaders to drive productivity, engagement, and accountability.

• Ensure Team Leaders effectively assign work, manage labour, and monitor throughput across their areas.

• Provide regular feedback, conduct performance discussions, and support training and development needs.

• Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.

• Support workforce planning and resource alignment to meet demand fluctuations.

2. Operational Delivery & Production Control

• Oversee day-to-day execution of production plans to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery to customers.

• Monitor production flow, identify constraints, and take timely corrective actions.

• Ensure accurate reporting of daily output, downtime, scrap levels, and labour utilisation.

• Coordinate closely with Planning, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure seamless operations.

• Lead daily operational briefings and short-interval control routines with Team Leaders.

3. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all production activities meet safety standards, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct regular safety checks and promote a strong safety culture.

• Work with Quality Assurance to ensure adherence to specifications and inspection standards.

• Lead first-level investigation and containment if quality or safety issues arise.

4. Continuous Improvement & Cost Efficiency

• Drive efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and layout optimisation across the production areas.

• Analyse production data to identify trends and opportunities for labour efficiency improvements.

• Support implementation of lean tools such as 5S, standard work, and visual management.

• Work with the Production Manager to deliver cost-reduction projects and enhance throughput.

• Encourage improvement ideas from Team Leaders and production staff.

5. Communication & Reporting

• Prepare accurate daily and weekly production reports.

• Maintain communication with Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Quality teams.

• Escalate risks, resource issues, or production challenges promptly.

• Represent production leadership in internal meetings when required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar leadership role.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow optimisation.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage performance.

• Proven track record of improving efficiency and delivering operational KPIs.

• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make informed decisions.

Desirable

• Experience in woodworking, furniture manufacturing, CNC machining, or joinery production.

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.

• Experience with continuous improvement or cost-reduction projects.

• Ambition to progress into Production Management responsibilities.
